Club Championship

Championship 2025/2026
Introducing a new look championship for the 2025 - 2026 season beginning in April 2025.
This year’s championship will be split into 3 disciplines, alongside the option of competing to be the overall Beagle champion. Each Beagle has the option to compete in as many of the disciplines as they want. To receive points, you must enter as a Bentham Beagle when registering for the race.
The three disciplines are:
Road
Trail
Parkrun
A 1st, 2nd and 3rd man & woman will be awarded in each discipline. To complete a discipline you must complete at least 6 races in the chosen discipline. Should you complete more than 6 races, your best 6 race finishes will count toward your total score. You can compete in 1, 2 or all 3 of the disciplines.
The scoring for each discipline will be as follows:
For Road and Trail, the result will be based on your position in the race. With the 1st Beagle home receiving 20 points, 2nd place - 17 points, 3rd - 15 points, 4th - 14 points, 5th - 13 points and so on.
The Parkrun discipline will be slightly different. Participants will be awarded the above points based on their age grading score rather than their position in the race.
I.e. someone who achieves an age grading score of 60% but finishes as the 3rd Beagle will get more points than someone with an age grading score of 50% who finished as the 1st Beagle.
A bonus of 5 points will also be awarded for the following:
- Fancy dress at a parkrun
- Participating in a parkrun at a location not on the schedule
- Volunteering at a park run.
You can only receive bonus points a maximum of 2 times for each of the above items (30 points maximum in total) and will only count to your total in the parkrun category.
Finally, the Overall Champion will be decided over the 3 disciplines and will require a minimum of 10 races as follows:
- You MUST complete 6 races in at least one discipline.
- You MUST also complete a minimum of 2 races in the other 2 disciplines (your best 2 results will be counted if you have done more than 2)
- If you complete 6 races in all disciplines, your best scoring discipline will be counted for the overall championship.
- A champion man and woman will be crowned at the end of the season.
There will be 1 race from each discipline on the calendar for each month. There will also be social highlights throughout the year which will be announced soon. These social highlight races are just for a bit of fun, ones that have been enjoyed in the past, and/or potential future championship races.
Happy running.
