A future date for the Bentham Marathon is yet to be decided. For more information please follow the Marathon Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BenthamMarathon/
The 2019 Marathon was organised by Bentham Beagle Club Members Diane & Nick Armstrong to celebreate their 100th Marathons with all proceeds being donated to Leonard Cheshire Holehird Care Home in Windermere.
Starting and finishing at Bentham Golf Club the marathon is run over a single lap on country roads. You will have stunning views of the Forest of Bowland, Stocks Reservoir and on your return to Bentham the Yorkshire 3 peaks. The course is undulating so be prepared that this may not be a PB course unless it is your first marathon!!
There will be a bespoke medal and t-shirt for all finishers. After your run join us in the Golf Club for the prize giving and where refreshments and a full bar are available.
The race is run under UKA rules - Course Measured on 03/11/18 & Full Race Licence in place.
We are delighted to have a number of partners working with us to deliver the Bentham Marathon.

As we have been working towards our 100th Marathon we have had much discussion about which marathon we should both run to mark this achievement. It became clear to us that nothing would be nicer that to run our 100th in Bentham with friends, family and fellow Bentham Beagle club members being able to share the moment with us. As there is no marathon organised in Bentham this clearly means organising our own, so that is what we are doing with the help of many of our fellow club members which we really appreciate.
You may have read above that all proceeds from the marathon are being donated to Holehird which is a Leonard Cheshire Care Home in Windermere. This is a charity close to our hearts as Nick's mother, Valerie was a resident of the home after she had an accident in 2013 until she passed away in 2018.
Valerie was one of the founding members of the Beagles and an accomplished marathon runner in her own right completing most of the majors including Berlin, Boston, London & New York, but more importantly an inspiration to many other runners. We are keen to give something back for all the care the Holehird Team gave to Valerie which is why they are our chosen charity.
We look forward to welcoming you all to what should be a great marathon. - Diane & Nick Armstrong
